A cordless mitre saw lets you cut decking at the far end of the garden, fit skirting in a house with the power off, or work on a site before the temporary supply arrives. Brushless motors now give cordless saws real capacity, but they need large batteries, and most are sold as bare tools. This guide compares 18 V and twin 18 V (36 V) cordless mitre saws by blade size, the battery system they use, the cut capacity each listing states and exactly what is in the box. If you already own batteries for one brand, staying with it saves a lot. Cuts per charge depend on the battery, the timber and the blade, so treat maker figures as a guide.
