The R255TBL+ is Evolution's next generation portable table saw, replacing the Rage 5-S. It is for builders, joiners and DIYers who need to rip boards and sheet material on site or in a garage. What sets it apart in our table saw guide is the 85 mm depth of cut combined with a dual rack and pinion rip fence, which keeps the fence parallel to the blade as you set it for each cut.

Our take
Accuracy features
Evolution lists a dual rack and pinion rip fence, a new blade height and bevel mechanism and a patented system for adjusting blade to fence parallelism. A fence that stays square to the blade gives straighter rips and reduces the risk of the workpiece binding and kicking back.
Cutting depth reaches 85 mm at 90 degrees and 58 mm at a 45 degree bevel. Mitre angles reach plus or minus 60 degrees with the supplied mitre gauge.
Plus features and safety
The motor is 1,800 W with soft start, an electronic brake, thermal overload protection and a paddle style emergency stop that you can knock off with a knee. Evolution also lists Active Dust Collection, a clear blade guard for visibility, a 3 metre cable, a dust pipe, an outfeed support and a top clamp.
In the box are a 28 tooth multi-material TCT blade, blade guard with extraction port, hose and fittings, mitre gauge, rip fence, push stick and riving knife. A push stick and riving knife are essential safety items on a table saw.
Portability and materials
The saw sits in a roll cage chassis with carry handles, and Evolution describes it as an easy one person carry. The listed weight is 22.8 kg. A wheeled stand is sold separately.
The multi-material blade cuts steel, aluminium, new or reclaimed wood with nails and plastic, so it can rip a reclaimed board without fear of hidden nails ruining the blade. For fine furniture, a dedicated wood blade would give a cleaner edge.
Other saws in the guide
The Evolution Fury 5-S also cuts 85 mm and comes with a stand and an extra wood blade, but with a 1,500 W motor and no stated fence type. The Bosch GTS 70-216 lists 635 mm rip capacity and 70 mm depth. The Bosch GTS 10 XC includes a GTA 60 W stand.
Verdict
Buy the R255TBL+ if you want a portable table saw with deep cuts, a well engineered fence and multi-material cutting for site work. The Evolution Fury 5-S includes a stand and wood blade, and the Bosch GTS 70-216 suits users who need a stated wide rip in a compact saw.
