The HiKOKI DV36DC is the most powerful combi drill in our trade guide, with a listed 155 Nm. It runs on HiKOKI's 36 V MultiVolt batteries and is built for the jobs that stall smaller drills: big augers through joists, large hole saws and long coach screws. Its standout safety feature is Reactive Force Control, which uses a gyro sensor to stop the motor if the tool starts to twist.

In its favour
- The listing states 155 Nm, the highest torque figure in this guide.
- Reactive Force Control uses a gyro sensor to stop the motor when the bit binds.
- An aluminium gear housing and improved cooling are listed for heavy, continuous loads.
Good to know
- Sold without battery or charger, and it needs HiKOKI 36 V packs to reach full output.
- The listing does not give the number of clutch settings.
Our take
Power and gearing
HiKOKI quotes 155 Nm of tightening torque and calls the power and drilling speed industry top class. The listing mentions a mechanical two speed gearbox and a 13 mm chuck, and the specs give 118 mm wood capacity, which points to large self feed bits and hole saws.
An aluminium gear housing is listed for extra rigidity, and an improved airflow design with a heat sink keeps the electronics cool under heavy, continuous load.
Reactive Force Control explained
At this torque level, a jammed bit can spin the drill body with real force. RFC uses a gyro sensor to detect when the bit is suddenly overburdened and stops the motor before the tool turns too far. The listing frames this as reducing twisting of the main unit, and it is the main reason to consider this drill over a simpler high torque model.
Batteries and the box
The listing includes a side handle and a stackable system case, but no batteries or charger. To reach the full 36 V output you need HiKOKI MultiVolt packs. If you already use HiKOKI 36 V tools, it slots straight in. If not, factor in the cost of a battery and charger.
The listed weight of 2 kg is for the tool only.
Because this is a bare unit, it pays to think about which pack you pair with it. A higher capacity MultiVolt battery will hold up better when the drill is pulling hard through wet timber or running a large hole saw for several minutes at a time.
Against other flagship drills
The Milwaukee M18FPD2 lists 135 Nm and comes with a 5.0 Ah pack and charger. The Bosch GSB 18V-110 C has 110 Nm and KickBack Control. Neither quite reaches the HiKOKI's torque figure, but both may suit buyers already on those platforms better.
Verdict
Choose the DV36DC if you need the most torque available here and value gyro based kickback control, particularly if you already own HiKOKI MultiVolt batteries. Milwaukee M18 users should look at the M18FPD2 kit, and Bosch owners will get most of the benefit from the GSB 18V-110 C.
