The AMM 500 Plus Top is Fein's cordless MultiMaster, built for renovation and interior trades who want Fein's multi-tool without a cable. It runs on 18 V AMPShare batteries, the shared platform powered by Bosch, and comes with more than 30 accessories but no battery or charger. Our take
Motor and build
Fein lists an 18 V PowerDrive brushless motor that it describes as very powerful, nearly wear free and long lasting. All gearbox parts are metal, which Fein says helps with high loads and service life. The speed range is 11,000 to 18,500 oscillations per minute.
An anti-vibration system and good noise insulation are also claimed, making it more comfortable during long cutting or sanding sessions. The listed weight is 1.3 kg.
StarlockPlus and QuickIN
StarlockPlus is the mounting system Fein developed with Bosch. According to the listing, it gives access to around 100 Fein accessories in the Starlock and StarlockPlus classes. QuickIN changes accessories in under three seconds without tools, which matters when you swap between a plunge blade, a scraper and a sanding pad several times on one job.
The 30 plus accessories cover sawing in wood and metal, sanding and tile removal. For a renovator, that means trimming door frames, cutting out damaged floorboards and lifting old tiles can all start the day the tool arrives, without a separate trip for blades.
AMPShare batteries
No pack or charger is included. Fein explains that AMPShare lets you switch tools and brands without switching batteries. If you already own Bosch Professional 18 V packs, you can run this tool immediately. If not, you will need a battery and charger, which adds to the overall outlay.
Compared with the corded MM 500 and rivals
The corded Fein MM 500 Plus Top reaches a slightly higher 19,500 per minute and never needs charging, but needs a socket. The Bosch GOP 18V-34 is another AMPShare compatible option with Starlock and a 3.4 degree angle, sold solo. The HiKOKI CV18DMA uses the bigger StarlockMax mount for heavy cutting.
Verdict
Choose the AMM 500 Plus Top if you have AMPShare or Bosch Professional 18 V packs and want a cordless Fein with a big accessory kit and metal gearbox. The corded MM 500 Plus Top suits workshop use, and the Bosch GOP 18V-34 is an alternative for the same batteries.
