The DCS565NT is DeWalt's compact XR circular saw, aimed at kitchen fitters, joiners and DIYers who cut sheet material and thinner timber and want a lighter, better balanced saw than a 184 mm model. It is sold as a bare unit in a TSTAK box. Its distinguishing feature is direct compatibility with DeWalt's AirLock extraction system, which makes connecting a dust extractor hose quick and secure.

In its favour

  • Listed 55 mm cut depth handles 47 mm timber and decking.
  • Bevel adjusts to 50 degrees and the base is cast aluminium.
  • AirLock dust extraction connection, according to DeWalt.

Good to know

  • No battery or charger included, so budget for them if new to the brand.
  • Smaller blade than the 184 and 190 mm saws, so less depth.

Our take

Listed specifications

DeWalt lists a brushless motor, a cast aluminium base for repeatable, accurate cuts, and variable bevel adjustment up to 50 degrees. The item description confirms a 165 mm blade and 55 mm depth of cut. The blade supplied has 24 teeth. The spec table weight of 1 kg is not realistic for a saw of this size and is likely a data error.

A 55 mm depth at 90 degrees covers 18 mm sheet goods with ease, as well as 47 mm timber. It falls short of the deeper 184 and 190 mm saws for thick sections.

Dust extraction and balance

The AirLock port suits indoor work, where dust from MDF and chipboard is both a mess and a health concern. Connecting to an extractor rather than relying on a bag makes a real difference in a finished room. DeWalt also highlights optimum balance for fatigue free use, which matters when making many cuts in a day.

The listing states a three year limited warranty, one year of free service and a 90 day money back guarantee.

Versus other compact and full size saws

The HiKOKI C1806DA is the closest rival, another 165 mm saw with 57 mm depth, an electric brake and a system case. It cuts slightly deeper on paper. The DeWalt DCS572N is the larger 184 mm sibling, better for framing but heavier. For guide rail work, the Bosch GKS 18V-57 lists compatibility with several brands of rail.

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone without DeWalt XR batteries will need to add them. Decking and framing work with thick timber is better served by a larger blade.

The listing does not mention a brake or guide rail compatibility, two details worth confirming with DeWalt if you plan precise panel work or want the blade to stop fast.

Verdict

Buy the DCS565NT if you already run DeWalt XR batteries and want a compact, dust friendly saw for sheet goods and fitting work. The HiKOKI C1806DA offers a little more depth with a brake, while the DeWalt DCS572N or Milwaukee M18 CCS55 suit heavy timber cutting.
