Our take
Certification and capacity
Vacmaster states independent certification for safe extraction of medium hazardous dust, removing 99.9 percent of dust with an occupational exposure limit value above 0.1 mg per cubic metre. That is the M class standard. The tank holds 38 litres, so it can run longer between empties on jobs such as wall chasing or sanding plaster.
The 1,500 W motor is listed at 240 V.
Power take off and speed
A power tool take off socket switches the extractor on and off with your connected tool. Variable speed control lets you reduce suction for delicate work and lower noise, which the listing says provides a fully adaptable output. The listed noise level is 78 dB.
Filter cleaning
The push clean filter system improves airflow during operation by letting you clear the filter manually. It is not automatic, so on very fine dust you will need to push it regularly to keep suction high. Two stage dust collection is listed to keep hazardous dust in the tank rather than letting it become airborne.
Accessories and hose
Included are a foam filter, an M class cartridge filter, five tank liner bags, an antistatic crevice tool, a round dusting brush and a universal floor tool. The listed hose length is 2.5 m, short for moving around a room, so you may want a longer hose. The listed weight is 10.9 kg.
Tank liner bags make emptying cleaner, as the dust stays sealed in the bag rather than being tipped out in a cloud.
Against the alternatives
The Trend T35A adds automatic filter cleaning and a 7 m hose in a lighter body. The Trend T33A is smaller with a button filter cleaner. The Vacmaster wins on tank size and value.
Verdict
Buy the Vacmaster if you want M class extraction with a large tank and power take off at a lower outlay, and do not mind cleaning the filter by hand. If automatic filter cleaning and a long hose matter, the Trend T35A is worth the extra, and Bosch users can look at the GAS 35 M AFC.
