Our take
Multipurpose cutting
Evolution says its patented multipurpose cutting technology is optimised to cut mild steel, non ferrous metals, wood and plastic with one blade. Cutting mild steel is said to leave a workable finish with no heat, no burr and virtually no sparks. That is useful for shed frames, shelving brackets and garden projects that mix timber and metal.
The extra WD255 wood blade gives a cleaner finish when you only need to cut timber, saving wear on the multi-purpose blade.
Motor and capacity
The motor is a 1,500 W high torque unit, the lowest power rating among the table saws in our guide. Cutting depth reaches 85 mm in wood and the blade bevels to 45 degrees. For most DIY ripping and cross cutting, 1,500 W is adequate, but long rips in thick hardwood will be slower than on the 1,800 W Evolution R255TBL+.
What the listing leaves out
The fence type, rip capacity and weight are not described. The included components field lists a stand, which our guide treats as a leg stand. Check Evolution's data if rip width is important to you. Evolution's three year limited warranty applies to UK purchases.
How it compares
The Evolution R255TBL+ is the newer model with an 1,800 W motor, dual rack and pinion fence, soft start and e-brake, but its stand costs extra. The Bosch GTS 70-216 has a stated 635 mm rip but cuts 70 mm deep. The Makita LH1040/2 combines table and mitre saw functions without a stand.
Among the saws in our guide, the Fury 5-S is the one that needs the least extra spending before first use, since stand and two blades are already in the box.
Verdict
Pick the Fury 5-S bundle if you want an affordable table saw with a stand and both wood and multi-purpose blades for mixed home projects. For more power and a better fence, the Evolution R255TBL+ is the step up, and the Bosch GTS 70-216 suits users who need a stated rip capacity.
