Our take

Features named in the listing

Makita lists a brushless motor, an electric brake, an LED job light, an aluminium base with bevel stops at 45 and 50 degrees, and a rear facing exhaust that keeps dust away from your face. There is a lock off button and a blower that clears sawdust from the cutting line, so you can see your pencil mark.

Automatic Torque Drive switches between high speed and high torque as the load changes. An indicator lamp shows the mode: green for high torque, off for high speed, flashing for overload. The spec table quotes 5,000 rpm and a weight of 3.2 kg.

What is missing from the listing

The blade size and depth of cut are not stated. That is a significant gap for a circular saw, since cut depth decides whether you can rip through 47 mm joists or only thinner boards. Check Makita's data before buying if you regularly cut thick stock. Guide rail compatibility is not mentioned either.

Kit contents and warranty

Amazon lists a dust nozzle, fast charger, hex wrench, rip fence, two 5.0 Ah batteries and a case alongside the saw. Makita offers one year of warranty plus two more years if you register within 30 days, but warns that non genuine batteries or chargers void that cover.

Against other cordless saws

The Ryobi RCS18BL is the other kit in this guide, a 184 mm brushless saw with a 5 Ah pack and charger, and its listing gives the blade size. The Milwaukee M18 CCS55 gives a clear 66 mm cut depth at 90 degrees but comes bare. The DeWalt DCS572N, also bare, adds a 184 mm blade and a brake.

Verdict

Pick the DHS660RTJ if you want a complete brushless saw kit with two big LXT packs and smart load control, and you have checked the cut depth suits your timber. If you need a stated deep cut, the Milwaukee M18 CCS55 is clearer, and the Ryobi RCS18BL is the other complete kit to consider.
