The GBH 2-28 F is Bosch's 2 kg class SDS plus hammer with the extra that makes it so flexible: a quick change system that swaps the SDS plus holder for a 13 mm keyless chuck in seconds. With 3.2 J of impact energy it hits as hard as anything in its class, and it suits electricians, kitchen fitters and builders who drill masonry, timber and steel on the same job.

In its favour
- The listing gives 3.2 J of impact energy, the highest figure among the Bosch SDS plus hammers here.
- Both an SDS plus quick change chuck and a 13 mm keyless chuck are included, so ordinary drill bits fit too.
- KickBack Control and Vibration Control are listed, along with a 210 mm depth stop and auxiliary handle.
Good to know
- The listing does not state a maximum hole size in concrete or the number of operating modes.
- At 3.36 kg it is heavier than the plain GBH 2-28 body, which matters for overhead work.
Our take
Hitting power and control
Bosch quotes 3.2 J of impact energy and calls this the strongest rotary hammer in its 2 kg SDS plus category. Impact energy is the force of each blow, and it decides how fast a bit advances through dense concrete or engineering brick. The motor is listed at 850 W with a top speed of 900 rpm.
KickBack Control is listed to cut power if the bit jams and the body starts to twist, and Vibration Control is there to reduce fatigue on longer runs of fixings. An overload clutch and forward and reverse rotation are mentioned in the specs.
Why the F chuck system is worth having
The F in the name means the front chuck comes off. Fit the SDS plus holder for masonry bits and chisels, or fit the 13 mm keyless chuck for round shank wood and metal bits, without an adaptor that adds length and wobble. For anyone who would otherwise carry a combi drill as well, that saves a tool.
Both chucks, an auxiliary handle, a 210 mm depth stop, a machine cloth and a carry case are in the box.
Weight and what is not stated
The listing gives 3.36 kg, slightly more than the fixed chuck GBH 2-28. It does not state the maximum hole size in concrete or list the operating modes, although Bosch markets the tool for drilling and chiselling. If you need a specific capacity figure, check the manual before relying on it for large anchor holes.
Against the Makita alternatives
The Makita HR2631FT13 offers a similar two chuck idea with AVT anti-vibration and a starter set of SDS bits, but lists 2.4 J. The Makita HR3210FCT goes to 32 mm in concrete and is much heavier. The GBH 2-28 F sits in the sweet spot for most fixing work, combining high impact energy with a manageable body.
Verdict
Choose the GBH 2-28 F if you want the strongest 2 kg class SDS plus hammer here and the convenience of a proper keyless chuck for wood and metal. If you only drill masonry, the fixed chuck GBH 2-28 saves weight, and if you need holes beyond 28 mm the Makita HR3210FCT is the bigger tool.
