Our take
What the listing gives
Milwaukee lists a half inch friction ring bit holder, a no load speed of 0 to 2,500 rpm and an impact rate of 0 to 3,100 blows per minute. The weight is given as 1.2 kg and the length as about 8.4 inches, or roughly 21 cm. The listing does not give a usable torque figure: the spec line shows 1 Nm, which is clearly a data error.
That gap makes it hard to compare directly with the HiKOKI and Bosch wrenches. Check Milwaukee's own data sheet if you need a specific breakaway figure.
Friction ring practicalities
A friction ring holds sockets with a spring loaded ring around the anvil. Sockets push on and pull off by hand, which speeds up jobs where you change sizes often, such as working through a vehicle's suspension. It holds less securely than a detent pin, so heavy sockets on long extensions may need care.
Platform and kit
This is sold naked, with no batteries or charger, so it suits existing M18 owners. Fuel is Milwaukee's brushless range, and the wrench shares batteries with a very wide range of M18 tools. No case is included.
Because it sits in the same family as Milwaukee's M18 drills, impact drivers and grinders, many mechanics will already have a charger and several packs on the bench, which keeps the real cost of adding this wrench low.
How it compares
The DeWalt DCF891N is a similar mid size half inch wrench with four speeds and clear torque figures. The HiKOKI WR36DH is lighter on paper at 1.3 kg with auto stop and auto slow. The Bosch GDS 18V-1000 is a heavier high torque option.
Who should look elsewhere
If you are not on M18, a kit from another brand will be better value. And if you need confirmed torque numbers before buying, the DeWalt or HiKOKI listings give more detail.
Verdict
The M18FIWF12 suits Milwaukee M18 owners who want a light half inch wrench with quick socket changes for vehicle and fitting work. If you need published torque figures or a battery in the box, the DeWalt DCF891N and DCF900P2T or the HiKOKI WR36DH are better documented choices.
